A tour guide in Rome

ABOUT ME

Interview, at the "Live Social" column of Radio Roma Capitale, when I talk about me, Rome and my job... Great experience!
Let me introduce myself!

Hello guys! I'm Gianluca Pica, with a graduate in "Scienze del Turimo" at La Sapienza University. I'm an official tour guide in Rome, with the possibilities to lead tours also in the outskirts and the countryside of Rome. I studied and I'm studying still today in order to achieve one goal: to get in touch with the archeological, cultural, historical and artistic realities of Rome. It is the reason why I usually work and collaborate with several tour operators that provide private tours (sometimes the party is just one person). My tourists are people who love very much walking around the Eternal City visiting the main monuments.
Moreover I studied marketing, especially that ones applied to the tourism, and the social networks. That's the reason why I collaborate with some cultural associations of Rome, taking care about their profiles in the socials and leading some tours for them. In this way, especially because I use to work with Romans and Italians in general, I can provide different tours, something that is completely off the beaten path!
I love very much reading, mainly fantasy and historical books. Moreovoer, since I was a little boy, I like writing all the things that are in my mind. This passion brings me to create a blog, in order to tell you something about Rome and its beauty.
But let me give a news: in the future, I would like to write a real book. And try to guess what will the its main topic...

Curiosity! What about a tour guide? Here a fun example...

Working in Rome is...

Although I live in the outskirts of Rome, this city was always at the centre of my thoughts, since my youth. When I was a child, of course with the little attention of a child, I remember when I went to the Roman Forum. I exclaimed: "So beautiful!". And still today my job, to be a Tour Guide, brings me to make always the same exclamation. I must thank my girlfriend Rita, who supported me and suggested me this wonderful job. Walking along the historical roads and districts, or visiting places outside the city centre like the Appian Way and the Castelli Romani, or standing in front of great monuments like the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain, looking at the archeological ruins and remains... everything here means beauty and everything brings me to make the same exclamation!
Try to watch this video to really understand what I'm talking about...
Day by day my job allows me to meet several people, coming from different countries, cultures, traditions and knowledges. According to me it is always beautiful when I see their faces and looks, meanwhile they are admiring the "Apollo and Dafne" by Bernini, the majestic Colosseum, the undergroud and dark tunnels of the catacombs, the imposing domes of the several churches and basilicas of Rome. They are astonished, surprised, impressed and fascinated. Thanks to this job I can really get in touch with the others, but it is also true that I feel myself as a simple "medium", a means. I'm a storytelling who tries to show what this city could offer. At the end all my studies and passions lead myself to one, simple, purpose: to communicate to the others the beauty of the Eternal City
